Early Life and EducationBorn in Germany, Frederick König pursued his artistic training at the Munich Academy under the tutelage of Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld.
Rise to Prominence
König gained recognition for his exceptional drawings, which depicted scenes from the Reformation era. His notable works included initials for a collection of Luther's hymns (earning him the moniker "Lutheran König"), a large drawing titled "Saint Boniface Preaching Christianity in Germany," and illustrations for the popular alphabet book "Goldene ABC" (engraved by Tetter).
Psalter and Biblical Compositions
König's artistic output extended to 48 psalm compositions featuring King David (engraved by Tetter and Merz) and 12 scenes depicting David's life. These works showcased his mastery in illustrating biblical narratives.
