Canadian Footballer: The Rise of As-Shaibani

Canadian goalie, As-Shaibani, made his debut with Nîmes on August 25, 2009, in the Coupe de la Ligue match against Troyes. He went on to feature in multiple French Cup matches for the club.

International Career

On May 14, 2010, As-Shaibani received his first call-up to the Canadian national team for a friendly match against Venezuela on May 29, 2010. He made his debut that same day, coming on as a second-half substitute. As-Shaibani also represented Canada at the 2008 Summer Universiade in Bangkok and the 2011 event in Belgrade.

Family Background

As-Shaibani was born to an Iraqi father and a Ukrainian mother. In 1998, they relocated to Canada, where As-Shaibani's football journey began.
