Biography of Khalid Al-Shamari
Born on July 1, 1950, in Al-Kadisiyah, Iraq, Khalid Al-Shamari is the Ambassador of Iraq to Ukraine and the Minister Plenipotentiary temporarily empowered to handle Iraq's affairs in Ukraine.
Education and Early Career
In 1974, Al-Shamari completed his bachelor's degree in English language from Al-Mustansiriya University. He furthered his studies and graduated from the University of Bass in the United Kingdom in 1983, specializing in the translation of the English language. In 2002, he obtained a degree in Spanish language from Baghdad University.
During his early career, from 1968 to 1980, Al-Shamari worked as a civil servant and translator for the Ministry of Agriculture in Iraq. He then served as a translator for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1980 to 1983. In 1983, he became the Third Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and later held the same position at the Iraqi Embassy in Malaysia from 1984 to 1986. Following his experience in Malaysia, he served as the Third Secretary to First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the United States from 1986 to 1990.
Career in Diplomacy
From 1990 to 1992, Al-Shamari served as the First Secretary and Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iraq. Subsequently, he held the position of Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1992 to 1995. He then served as Minister Plenipotentiary and temporarily empowered to handle the affairs of the Iraqi Embassy in Australia from 1995 to 1998. Al-Shamari continued his diplomatic career as the Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1998 to 2002.
From 2002 to 2003, he assumed the role of the Minister Plenipotentiary and temporarily empowered to handle the affairs of the Iraqi Embassy in Austria. Al-Shamari then served as the Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2004. His dedication and expertise led him to become the Chief Press Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2006.
Ambassadorship in Ukraine
Since July 1, 2007, Al-Shamari has been serving as the Minister Plenipotentiary and temporarily empowered to handle the affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kiev. He continues to contribute to diplomatic relations between Iraq and Ukraine, representing his country with distinction and professionalism.
