Biography of Hans Peter Geerdes
Hans Peter Geerdes, also known as Hans Peter Gerdes, was born on March 16, 1966, in Leer, Northwest Germany. He is a musician and the founder of the group "Scooter." Despite his musical tastes being influenced by bands like "T-Rex" and "Deep Purple," Hans Peter developed a passion for guitar music during his teenage years. He played in school music groups and dreamt of becoming a famous guitarist.
Formation of Scooter
Hans Peter's interest in guitar music is reflected in his work with Scooter, where he often enriches the sound with guitar themes. His personal hit parade includes artists such as Westbam, Da Hool, and Plastic Noise. Hans Peter previously worked at the record company Edel, where he met Jens Thele, who later became one of the members of The LOOP!. Jens convinced Hans Peter to move to Hamburg, which marked the beginning of his career. When asked about his role at Edel, Hans Peter replied, "I observed the development of music."
Career and Formation of Celebrate The Nun
After moving to Hamburg, Hans Peter placed an advertisement looking for a keyboard player, and this is how he met Rick, with whom he formed the group Celebrate The Nun. The band existed with a small hiatus from 1986 to 1991. Among all the members of Scooter, Hans Peter is perhaps the only one who never forgets that music is not only created by sitting at a synthesizer but also requires the breath of life. He constantly develops new concepts and seeks new sounds.
Legendary Stage Presence
However, Hans Peter's cult figure status on stage is attributed to his legendary "screaming" technique. "The meaning of the words is not my primary focus," emphasizes Baxter, "the sound of the lyrics must support the rhythm." He masters this technique perfectly, and his energy on stage is unparalleled, captivating the audience.
Interests and Fears
Aside from music, Hans Peter has a passion for movies, ice skating, and football. If he could travel through time, he would want to go to the year 3000. Interestingly, despite his tough and masculine appearance, Hans Peter is afraid of flying and driving cars.
