Harold Gould was an American actor who was born into a Jewish family. He graduated from a pedagogical college in Albany in 1947, and in 1953, he earned a Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Cornell University.

Early Career

Gould made his debut in 1955, portraying Thomas Jefferson in the production of "The Common Glory" in Williamsburg, Virginia. From 1956 to 1960, he served as a professor of dramatic arts at the University of California.

Film and Television Career

Gould began his film career in 1959 with a minor role in the movie "The Untouchables." He went on to play more significant roles in films such as "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour," "Dr. Kildare," "The Fugitive," "Inside Daisy Clover," and "I Dream of Jeannie," among others. He also appeared in numerous television series.

In 1975, Gould starred as Prince Anton in Woody Allen's film "Love and Death," and later portrayed a villain in Mel Brooks' "Silent Movie." He also had roles in the television series "Rhoda," "Mrs. Delafield Wants to Marry," and "Moviola," for which he received Emmy nominations. In the 1990s and 2000s, he appeared in popular films and series such as "Dallas," "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," "Cops on Bikes," "Mafia Requiem," "The King of Queens," "The Master of Disguise," and others.

Aside from his work in film and television, Gould also acted in Broadway productions.
