Theater and Film Debut

Hinz began his theatrical career at age 18, performing in various German cities before settling in Berlin. In the German capital, he took to the stage at the Theater am Nollendorfplatz and the Komödien-Haus. Concurrently, he began dubbing foreign films and narrating newsreels.

Nazi Propaganda Films

During the Nazi regime, Hinz lent his voice to several propaganda films, including "The Eternal Jew" (1940) and "The Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler in Action" (1941). From 1940 until the final 755th issue, he served as the narrator of "Die Deutsche Wochenschau," a Nazi newsreel that glorified the Wehrmacht's victories on the Eastern Front.

Postwar Career

Despite his involvement in Nazi propaganda, Hinz avoided denazification as he had never been a member of the Nazi Party. From 1947 onward, he resumed his film dubbing career in West Berlin. However, his return to newsreels was hindered by his well-known voice.
