Biography of Harry Lennix

Harry Joseph Lennix is an American actor and director. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA, as the youngest child of Lillian and Harry Lennix. He has two brothers and a sister.
Early Life and Education

Lennix completed his education at Quigley Preparatory Seminary South and later enrolled at Northwestern University. It was during his time as a student that he discovered his passion for theatre. Initially, he had no intentions of becoming an actor and only decided to participate in theatre while waiting for the baseball season to start. However, Lennix quickly became enthralled with theatre and soon became a leading actor and director at the university.
Career

After graduating, Lennix briefly taught in Chicago before moving to New York and eventually to Los Angeles, California. His debut in film can be credited to his role in the action film "The Package" directed by Andrew Davis in 1989, although his role was so small that he wasn't even credited. In 1991, Lennix landed a significant role in the musical drama "The Five Heartbeats" directed by Robert Townsend. The same year, he appeared in the comedy film "Mo' Money" directed by Peter MacDonald and also in Tim Robbins' comedy film "Bob Roberts".
During the 1990s, Lennix also found success on television, appearing in numerous series with both major and minor roles. He appeared in shows such as "Diagnosis Murder," "ER" as the character Dr. Greg Fischer, "The Client," "JAG," and several others. In addition to television, Lennix also had roles in several feature films during the late 90s, including Spike Lee's "Get on the Bus," David Schwimmer's television melodrama "Since You've Been Gone," and Julie Taymor's fantasy drama "Titus."
Lennix's acting career gained significant momentum in the early 2000s. His first major role during this period was as Nathan Wright in Gina Prince-Bythewood's sports drama film "Love & Basketball" in 2000. Since then, Lennix has appeared in over 40 film and television productions. In 2007, he starred in Sylvain White's musical drama "Stomp the Yard," Rod Lurie's sports drama "Resurrecting the Champ," and Julie Taymor's melodrama "Across the Universe."
