In 1984, Reems faced controversy when he unknowingly had a sex scene with 16-year-old actress Traci Lords in the film "Those Young Girls." This led to legal issues and further scrutiny of the adult film industry.
Legal Troubles
Reems faced legal troubles related to his involvement in the film "Deep Throat." He was arrested by FBI agents in July 1974 and charged with distributing obscene materials in Memphis, Tennessee, in June 1975. The defense argued that Reems was the first actor to be held responsible simply for his participation in a film. Reems attended the church of Reverend Mark Heiss in Park City, Utah, but left the community when the pastor was replaced. Nevertheless, Reems continued to maintain his faith in God. He passed away on March 19, 2013, at the age of 65, in a veterans hospital in Salt Lake City due to pancreatic cancer. Reems had no children.
