Early Career and Rise to ProminenceRoman Abrahamyan, a prominent goalkeeper, began his career at the Armenian powerhouse, FC Ararat Yerevan, in 1987. He spent a decade with Ararat, with a brief stint at FC Spitak during the late 1980s. Abrahamyan cemented his status as a key player for Ararat, helping them achieve numerous national titles, including the Armenian Premier League and Armenian Cup.
Triumphant Years with Ararat
During his time at Ararat, Abrahamyan showcased his exceptional goalkeeping abilities. He was instrumental in their three consecutive Armenian Cup victories between 1993 and 1995. His impressive performances earned him the prestigious title of "Most Reliable Goalkeeper" in 1993 and 1995.
International Recognition and Overseas Ventures
In 1996, Abrahamyan ventured overseas to play for Keshavarz in Iran. Two years later, he returned to Armenia and joined FC Yerevan, where he played a pivotal role in their bronze-medal finish in the Armenian Premier League and run to the Armenian Cup final.
Return to Ararat and Coaching Career
In 1999, Abrahamyan returned to FC Ararat, where he was named the Armenian Footballer of the Year. He remained with Ararat until 2009, when he transitioned into coaching. He currently serves as the goalkeeping coach for Rah Ahan FC in Iran.
