Early Life and Amateur Career
Hassanboy Dusmatov, an Uzbek professional boxer, was born on June 24, 1993, in the Andijan Region of Uzbekistan. He began boxing at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks of amateur boxing.
In 2009, he achieved his first significant success by winning the International Boxing Tournament inKazakhstan, honoring the memory of champion RK F. Shonazarov. He followed this up with a victory in the Uzbekistan National Youth Championship in 2011 in the 49 kg weight category.
International Success
Dusmatov continued to excel on the international stage. In 2013, he competed in the AIBA World Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he placed ninth. A year later, he joined the Ukrainian Atamans, a semi-professional Ukrainian boxing team, and won a quarterfinal bout against Russian boxer David Ayrapetyan.
In 2015, he won all seven of his matches in the World Series Boxing, cementing his status as a rising star in the amateur boxing world. He also captured the bronze medal at the 2015 Asian Championships and claimed his first Asian title in 2017.
Olympic Glory
Dusmatov's Olympic dreams came to fruition when he triumphed at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, claiming the gold medal in the light flyweight division. He repeated his success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming a two-time Olympic champion.
Transition to Professional Boxing
After his Olympic achievements, Dusmatov turned professional in 2019 and signed with Top Rank Promotions. He made his professional debut on November 16, 2019, and has since won multiple fights, including capturing the WBA International title in the light flyweight division.
