Henry Maske
Amateur CareerHenry Maske, a German boxer, began his boxing journey in 1973 under the guidance of Manfred Wolke, the 1968 Olympic champion. He achieved unparalleled success in amateur boxing, becoming the most decorated German amateur boxer in history.

At the 1988 Olympics, Maske dominated the competition, not conceding a single point to his opponents. He defeated four opponents with unanimous 5:0 scores, while one opponent withdrew due to an injury sustained in the preliminary round. Notably, he did not face his traditional rival, Anhel Espinoso, due to the absence of the Cuban team because of the Olympics boycott.
Professional Career
In 1990, Maske transitioned to professional boxing, largely fighting in his home country of Germany, which contributed to his successful career.
IBF Light Heavyweight Champion (1993-1996):Maske won the IBF light heavyweight title on March 20, 1993, by defeating reigning champion Charles Williams on points. He successfully defended it five times, most notably a knockout victory over American Iren Berkeley on October 8, 1994.
Maske vs. Graciano Rocchigiani:Maske faced fellow German boxer Graciano Rocchigiani in a close and competitive fight for the IBF light heavyweight title in May 1995. Maske controversially won by close decision, but Rocchigiani's performance warranted a rematch, which Maske won more convincingly.
Maske vs. Virgil Hill:Maske suffered his only professional loss via split decision to Virgil Hill on November 23, 1996. The bout was billed as his final fight, despite Maske being only 32 years old at the time.
Retirement and Comeback
Match-Up with McDonald's:Maske now owns a chain of McDonald's restaurants in Germany.
Film Debut:In 2010, Maske starred as the legendary German boxer Max Schmeling in Uwe Boll's film "Max Schmeling." The film was inspired by Schmeling's own request that Maske portray him, and featured other notable boxers in supporting roles.
