Hayley Lynn Okines was born on December 3, 1997, in Arrington, England, United Kingdom. At the age of two, Hayley was diagnosed with Progeria, a rare genetic condition that causes premature aging of the body. Doctors told her parents that she would only live until the age of thirteen. Determined to raise awareness about her rare condition, Hayley became well-known for her efforts to educate others about Progeria and its impact on her life.

A Life of Endurance and Hope

Hayley often traveled to Boston, USA, to try out new treatment methods developed in the United States. In 2012, she co-authored her autobiography, "Old Before My Time," with her mother Kerry Okines and Alison Stokes. Despite facing numerous challenges, Hayley lived in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, with her mother, Kerry, father, Mark, brother, Louis, and sister, Ruby. None of her family members had Progeria.

A Voice for Progeria

Hayley actively participated in various television shows and documentaries in Europe and the United States. The Discovery Health channel released a special documentary called "Extreme Aging: Hayley's Story," which highlighted the possibility of finding a cure for Progeria in the future. In the United Kingdom, a documentary titled "Extraordinary Lives" shed light on Hayley's life, her condition, and potential ways to combat the disease.

An Inspiration to Many

Hayley's story touched the hearts of many, inspiring athletes and organizations to raise funds for further research on Progeria. The Chelsea Football Club organized a charity lottery in her honor, raising thousands of pounds. Additionally, after watching a documentary about Hayley's life, athlete Steve Kings embarked on a charity bike ride covering a distance of 1600 km.

A Legacy of Hope

In December 2010, Hayley had the opportunity to meet Justin Bieber after a Twitter campaign was launched by a group of compassionate individuals. Her story also inspired songwriters Jane Winiberg and Mark Street, who wrote and produced the song "Voices of Tomorrow," performed by the Kids Choir 2000, which included Hayley herself. The proceeds from the song, as well as another song called "Life Will Find a Way," continue to be directed towards the Progeria Research Foundation.

A Life Cut Short but Remembered

Hayley Okines passed away on April 2, 2015, at the age of seventeen, due to complications from pneumonia. Despite her shortened life expectancy, Hayley defied the odds and lived four years longer than initially predicted by doctors.
