Heather Nauert Biography

Early Life

Heather Ann Nauert was born on January 27, 1970, in Rockford, Illinois. Her father, Peter Nauert, held a managerial position in the insurance industry. She has three brothers: Justin, Jonathan, and Joseph. Nauert attended Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where she earned a bachelor's degree in communication. She later obtained a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.

Career

In 1996, Nauert became a reporter for the syndicated weekly business program "First Business." From 1998 to 2005, she worked at Fox News, initially as an assistant and later as a correspondent. As a correspondent, Nauert regularly appeared on the news talk show "The Big Story." From 2005 to 2007, she held various positions in different news organizations, including the role of chief correspondent for ABC News, where she contributed to shows such as "World News Tonight," "Good Morning America," and "Nightline." During this time, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her work on the special series "13 Around the World."

Nauert co-hosted the news programs "Good Day Early Call" and "Good Day New York Wake Up" with Steve Lacy for the New York television station WNYW (Fox 5). She left the project "Good Day Wake Up" in October 2012. In 2007, Nauert returned to Fox News, co-hosting the weekday editions of "The Big Story" with John Gibson. She also worked as a consultant on government affairs, particularly in areas such as healthcare insurance, social security, and taxes. Nauert was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Official Representative and Personal Life

On April 24, 2017, the U.S. Department of State announced that Nauert would become its official representative. She conducted her first press briefing in this role five weeks later, on June 6, 2017. Afterward, she expressed her honor to work with "such talented, dedicated staff and outstanding journalists" on her Twitter account.

Nauert is married to Scott Norby, an investment banker working at Morgan Stanley. He has previously held positions at UBS Investment Bank, Goldman Sachs, Cargill Corporation, and the National Veterinary Associates association. The couple has two sons: Peter, born in October 2009, and Gage, born in December 2010. Nauert has German, Danish, and English roots.
