Biography of Heidi Brühl

Heidi Brühl was a German actress and singer who rose to fame at a young age. She had a successful career in both film and television. However, her most notable achievement was her performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1963.

Early Life

Heidi was born in Gräfelfing, Upper Bavaria, Germany. She made her debut in 1954 in the film "Der letzte Sommer" ("The Last Summer"). However, Brühl gained true recognition for her portrayal of Dalli in the Immenhof film series.

Immenhof Film Series

The first film, "Die Mädels von Immenhof" ("The Girls from Immenhof"), based on Ursula Bruns' work, was released in 1955. It was followed by two sequels, "Hochzeit auf Immenhof" ("Wedding at Immenhof") and "Ferien auf Immenhof" ("Holiday at Immenhof").

Music Career

In 1959, Brühl signed a contract with the record label "Phillips." Her first single, "Chico Chico Charlie," was released shortly after. It received a warm reception from the public, reaching the 5th position on the local charts. In 1960, her recording of "Wir Wollen Niemals Auseinandergeh'n" ("We Never Want to Separate") sold over a million copies, earning her a gold record.

Eurovision Song Contest

In 1960, Brühl participated in the German pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song, "Wir Wollen Niemals Auseinandergeh'n," placed second. However, the composition topped the German singles chart for nine weeks. Brühl made another attempt in 1963 with the song "Marcel," which won her the national selection. At the Eurovision Song Contest in London, she placed 9th out of 16 participants.

Life in Rome and the USA

Shortly after the contest, Brühl met American actor Brett Halsey. They moved to Rome and got married in December 1964. In 1970, they relocated to the United States, where Brühl acted in various TV series, including "Columbo," and performed on the Las Vegas stage. In 1973, she returned to Germany and starred in two more films from the Immenhof series, "Zwillinge vom Immenhof" ("Twins from Immenhof") and "Frühling auf Immenhof" ("Spring at Immenhof").

Later Years and Death

Brühl and Halsey divorced in 1976, and she returned to Germany. She worked as a voice-over artist and appeared in TV series. Tragically, Heidi Brühl passed away on June 8, 1991, due to breast cancer.
