Meeting Helmut Horten
Heidi met her future husband in 1959 at a bar in one of the hotels. Despite a thirty-year age difference, their relationship remained strong, and they eventually got married. Helmut Horten was an extraordinarily wealthy man, owning hotels, yachts, a private jet, and multiple villas. He was a German entrepreneur who grew up in Switzerland and had the fourth-largest department store chain in Germany at the time of their meeting. However, he later decided to step down from his position in the company.
