Henry Burk Jones was an American film, theater, and television actor. He was best known for his role as Leroy Jessup in the 1956 horror film "The Bad Seed," directed by Mervyn LeRoy. Jones originally played the same role on Broadway.
Early Life and Education
Henry Burk Jones was born on August 1, 1912, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Helen Burk and John Francis Xavier Jones, and the grandson of Henry Burk. Jones attended Saint Joseph's Preparatory School.
Theater Career
Jones appeared in various theatrical productions, including "My Sister Eileen," "Hamlet," "The Time of Your Life," and "They Knew What They Wanted." He was also a member of the ensemble cast of "The Solid Gold Cadillac" and "Sunrise at Campobello," for which he won a Tony Award.
Film and Television Career
Jones appeared in over 180 films and television projects throughout his career. Some of his notable film roles include "The Girl Can't Help It," "3:10 to Yuma," "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?," "Vertigo," "The Bramble Bush," and "Cash McCall." He also appeared in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Dirty Dingus Magee," "Support Your Local Gunfighter," and "Arachnophobia."
On television, Jones appeared in series such as "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "The Eleventh Hour," "Phyllis," "Night Gallery," and "Emergency!" He played Harvey Cagle in "Gunsmoke" and Hardy Hempstead in "The Twilight Zone." He also portrayed Jeremiah Smith in an episode of "Lost In Space" and R.J. Hoferkamp in the TV western "Something for a Lonely Man" alongside Dan Blocker.

Henry Burk Jones passed away on May 17, 1999, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 86.
