Biography of Henry Corden

Henry Corden, an American actor, was born in 1920 in Montreal, Canada. As a child, he moved to New York and later relocated to Hollywood in the 1940s. Corden began his acting career with numerous roles in television series, often in minor and uncredited parts. However, he had a considerable number of these roles.

Finding His Voice

Corden later found his niche in voice acting and became a highly popular actor behind the microphone. He worked on numerous animated projects, lending his voice to iconic characters. Some of the animated projects he worked on include "Tom & Jerry," "Jonny Quest," "The Jetsons," "Secret Squirrel," and "Josie and the Pussycats." However, his most famous voice role was that of Fred Flintstone, the main character in the beloved animated series "The Flintstones" and its multiple spin-offs. He officially debuted as Fred in 1997 in "Fred Flintstone and Friends."

On-Screen Appearances

In addition to his voice work, Corden also had several live-action roles in films such as the adventure comedy "Jupiter's Darling" (1955) directed by George Sidney, the Oscar-winning drama "The Ten Commandments" (1956) directed by Cecil B. DeMille, the comedy "Hook, Line and Sinker" (1969) directed by George Marshall, and the television comedy "Keep the Faith" (1972). His deep voice and black hair suited him well for villainous and sinister roles.
