Early Life and Education
Henry Ian Cusick Chavez, a Scottish-Peruvian actor, was born in Trujillo, Peru. His family relocated to Spain, Scotland, and Trinidad and Tobago, where he spent his formative years. At age 15, he returned to Scotland and briefly attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in Glasgow.
Acting Career
Stage TheaterCusick began his career in theater, receiving early recognition for his leading roles as Dorian Gray in "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and Hamlet in "Marowitz's Hamlet." His exceptional performances as Torquato Tasso at the Edinburgh International Festival and Creon in the Citizens' Theatre's production of "Oedipus" earned him the 1995 Ian Charleson Award.
Television and Film
From stage, Cusick transitioned to television and film. He appeared in several episodes of "Casualty" and "The Book Group" before landing the role of Jesus Christ in the 2003 film "The Gospel of John." His most notable role came in 2005 when he was cast as Desmond Hume in the television series "Lost." Initially appearing as a recurring character, Desmond became a central figure from the third season onward.
Cusick's television and film credits include "24," "Hitman," and "Dead Like Me."
Personal Life
Henry Cusick is married to Annie Wood Cusick, and they have three children: Elijah, Lucas, and Isaiah. They reside in Oahu, Hawaii. In 2009, Cusick faced allegations of sexual harassment, which he has denied.
