Grace's mother is Victoria Piddington, while Lola's mother is Marie-Christine Musswessels, with whom Howard ended his relationship in late 2009. In April 2010, Donald obtained a court order against his former girlfriend, musician Adakini Ntuli, with whom he had an on-and-off relationship from 2000 to 2008. After Ntuli's involvement with publicist Max Clifford and negotiations with the British tabloid 'News of the World,' Donald was issued a gagging order to prevent him from disclosing personal information about her. The gagging order was lifted in November 2010, which was seen as a legal precedent for future injunctions.

In 2007, during the tour supporting the album 'Beautiful World,' Donald experienced a collapsed lung after performing a series of acrobatics on stage.
