Born in Croatia, formerly part of Yugoslavia, our subject was an engineer-electrician by profession.

Chess Composition Career

Grandmaster and Arbiter

In 1980, he achieved the prestigious title of Grandmaster in chess composition. He also served as an Arbiter in chess composition, receiving this certification in 1956.

Contributions to the Field

Throughout his career, he published over 400 chess problems, primarily focusing on classical-themed two-movers and record-breaking tasks (known as Tasking). His prolific work has garnered numerous accolades, with 150 problems receiving distinctions, including 70 first prizes.

Leadership and Advocacy

He held the position of Chairman of the Union of Yugoslav Problemists and was an active member of the Permanent Commission of FIDE for Chess Composition. Through these roles, he played a significant role in advancing the field of chess composition.
