Huang Guofu: The Chinese Artist without Hands
Most people on earth have a full set of hands and feet. However, how many of us have any talents, let alone talents that are not hidden but realized? It must be admitted that there are not so many. And therefore, talent does not in any way depend on the presence or absence, let's say, of hands. This is exactly what Chinese artist Huang Guofu proves, who manages to create incredibly expressive paintings despite the lack of both hands. Huang Guofu is a Chinese artist who creates his paintings using his feet, and sometimes even his mouth. Guofu has been without hands since the age of four, but his talent and skill are beyond doubt.
Biography
Huang Guofu was born in China. He is now over forty years old. At the age of four, Huang suffered serious injuries that resulted in the loss of both hands. The determined boy quickly realized that hands could be replaced by feet, and soon little Guofu was eating with his feet, and when the time came, he began to write with them as well. At the age of twelve, Huang started painting, and later, as an adult, he recalled that his first drawings were, to put it mildly, not very good. However, he still felt a passion for art and understood that all his failures were purely technical, so there was no need to put his feet down. He continued to improve his technique and skill, and the future artist already had images of his future paintings in his mind.
When he turned eighteen, Huang's father fell seriously ill, and the young man set out to earn money. Since the best thing he could do by that time was painting, he started making money by selling his paintings. He began moving from city to city, painting directly on the streets and selling his artworks on the spot. People were interested and intrigued by this strange artist who was creating true masterpieces right in front of their eyes using his feet and sometimes his tongue. However, Guofu himself believes that people often bought his paintings out of sympathy.
Nevertheless, the young man needed money very much, and besides, he needed self-affirmation. The fact that he could earn a living with his own talent gave him confidence. Meanwhile, his skill was growing, and the quality of Huang Guofu's paintings was getting better and better. Today, he is a highly sought-after artist, and his buyers and clients are located all over the world. Interestingly, Guofu himself believes that a brush in his mouth looks much more aesthetically pleasing than a brush held by his toes. Whether this is true or not is not important, but Huang has mastered the technique of painting with both his feet and his mouth perfectly.
It is known that Huang is married, and his wife always helps him - she carries his brushes and paints, as well as assists with organizing exhibitions. Later, Huang Guofu was appointed curator at the Chonging Talents Museum, where he works not alone, but with other artists who also have physical limitations. Nevertheless, Huang Guofu considers himself a happy person and does not hold any grudges against his fate. In fact, it is quite possible that if he had not lost his hands, the talent of an artist would never have awakened in him. And without his paintings, Guofu simply cannot imagine himself in life.
Moreover, Huang knows for sure that there is always a chance for happiness in life, even when it is not visible. Even the worst event can always be looked at from a different perspective, and something good can surely be found in it.
