Origins and Concept

In the spring of 2003, two musicians embarked on a unique musical journey, driven by the desire to create an alternative band. The defining characteristic: the incorporation of wind instruments, particularly flutes, alongside eccentric lyrics and flamboyant performances.

Initial Formation and Debut

The inaugural lineup consisted of Niels (vocals), Guchok (drums), Kostik (guitar), Batrak (bass), Artyom "Paspartu" (trumpet), Tolik (bassoon), Bondar (backing vocals), and Letov (French horn). However, before their first concert, Letov departed, and Batrak relocated to Moscow. In September, Petya, an acquaintance of Guchok and Kostik, joined the band on bass. The first official concert took place in October at the Oryol Philharmonic Hall.

Lineup Changes and New Collaborations

In January 2004, Kostik left the group, replaced by Den, the band's current guitarist. Around the same time, Kojar (trombone), Jean-Paul (trumpet), and Sasha (tuba) joined. Sasha later left in May. The following concert, at a punk venue, was marred by technical difficulties and a rowdy crowd. Afterward, the band met Igor Belonozhko, who offered his services as sound engineer.

Album Debut and Festival Appearances

In the spring of 2004, "YaitsY" performed several intimate concerts and began working on their first album, "Jamaican Wolves." In April, they were invited to the Oryol rock festival "Rock-side." A technical sabotage during their performance led to a chorus of fans singing along.

Departure and Additions

Paspartu left the band in the summer, replaced by Andrei (baritone saxophone). In August, they played at a festival in Livny, where the equipment failure of the subsequent band allowed "YaitsY" to perform longer. In the autumn, Tolik, Bondar, and Kojar departed, while Stas "Pten" (trombone) and Alevtina (alto saxophone) joined. In September, the album "Jamaican Wolves" was completed and mastered.

Moscow Performances and Accolades

The album's launch party in October earned "YaitsY" a "Best Club Concert of 2004" award from Komsomolskaya Pravda. The band performed in Moscow throughout 2005, including a special concert in March with the renowned Russian punk band "Distemper."

Further Lineup Changes and Festival Appearances

In the summer of 2005, Jean-Paul, Andrei, and Alevtina left Moscow, prompting Paspartu to return. Dima (tenor saxophone) also joined. The band played at alternative music festivals in Oryol and Bryansk, as well as at a Ska festival in Moscow. They continued to perform in various Russian cities, earning recognition for their unique blend of music and theatrics.

Current Lineup and Collaboration

Today, "YaitsY" comprises eight members: Niels (vocals), Guchok (drums), Den (guitar), Petya (bass, backing vocals), Stas "Pten" (trombone), Jean-Paul (trumpet), Dima (tenor saxophone), and Paspartu (trumpet). Igor Belonozhko remains an integral part of the group, accompanying them on all their performances. The band's unique sound and energetic live shows continue to captivate audiences, solidifying their place in the Russian alternative music scene.
