Early Life and Club Career
Cristian Smith was born in Costa Rica and began his football career with Santos de Guápiles, a local club. On April 5, 2015, he made his professional debut for the club in a match against Universidad de Costa Rica.
In 2016, Smith moved to Swedish club Hammarby on loan. However, he was unable to make an appearance for the team and returned to Costa Rica. In 2018, he joined Norrköping, where he has been a regular starter.
International Career
Smith has represented Costa Rica at various youth levels. In 2015, he was part of the U-17 team that participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. He played in matches against Russia, South Africa, France, and Belgium.
In 2017, Smith played for the U-20 team at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Costa Rica. He featured in matches against El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, and Honduras. Later that year, he represented Costa Rica at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea, appearing in matches against Iran, Portugal, Zambia, and England.
