Carlos Kameni - Biography of a Cameroonian Goalkeeper
Carlos Kameni, a Cameroonian footballer, is best known for his career as a goalkeeper for the club "Malaga" and the Cameroonian national team. His talent was noticed at the young age of 16 when he became the youngest footballer to win a gold medal at the Olympics. This achievement opened the doors for him to join the French club "Le Havre," although he did not make it to the first team. He then spent a season with "Saint-Etienne."
Achievements and Career Highlights
In July 2004, Kameni transferred to "Espanyol" for a fee of 600,000 dollars. He made his debut in a match against "Deportivo" and went on to win the Copa del Rey with the club in 2006. In addition to his club success, Kameni has represented Cameroon in various international competitions.
In 2000, he played at the Olympic Games in Sydney, where he won a gold medal. This made Kameni the youngest footballer in history to become an Olympic champion. In 2002, he also won gold medals at the African Cup of Nations and participated in the FIFA World Cup.
Furthermore, Kameni played four matches in the 2003 Confederations Cup, where Cameroon finished as runners-up, losing to France in the final. He also took part in the CAF 2004, where his team suffered a defeat against Nigeria. In 2008, he played in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Family and Personal Life
Kameni comes from a football-oriented family, as his brother Matthew Kameni was also called up to the Cameroonian national team, although he never made an appearance on the field.
