Biography of Eva Zasimauskaitė

Eva Zasimauskaitė, a Lithuanian singer and songwriter, represented Lithuania in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with her romantic ballad "When We're Old". Prior to this, she had participated in the Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017.

Early Life and Education

Eva Zasimauskaitė-Kiltinavičienė was born on July 2, 1993, in Kaunas, the second-largest city in Lithuania. Her parents are healthcare workers, and her father is passionate about music and plays the guitar. Eva has an older brother named Ugnius. She completed her high school education at the Rasos Gymnasium of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas in 2012. She then obtained a bachelor's degree in Hotel Business from the International School of Law and Business (TTVAM) in Vilnius in 2015. During her studies, Eva also spent a semester in Barcelona, Spain, as part of the Erasmus program.

Music Career

Eva Zasimauskaitė began her musical journey at the age of seven when she started attending vocal classes at the Kaunas Music School. She performed in the children's vocal group "Linksmasis do" and played the piano. She participated in various competitions and festivals during this time. In 2007, Eva even performed as a backing vocalist for Lina Jurevičiūtė at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. At the age of 16, she became a member of the Kaunas Choir, which won the TV3 competition "Chorų karai". Eva toured with the choir throughout Lithuania, performing in up to 16 concerts per month.

After her choir experience, Eva embarked on a solo career with the support of composer and music producer Tautkus, the leader of the boy band N.E.O. During this period, she met her future husband, a member of N.E.O. In 2012, Eva participated in the Lithuanian version of "The Voice" and reached the superfinal, where she performed Dima Bilan's "Never Let You Go". Following this, she composed her first song, "Pasiilgau".

Eva Zasimauskaitė has showcased her talent through various performances, including corporate events and weddings, where she covers songs by artists such as Adele, Rihanna, and Alicia Keys. She has received vocal training from renowned artists such as Česlovas Gabalis, Kristina Zmailaitė, and Rosita Čivilytė.

Personal Life

After being in a relationship for five years, Eva Zasimauskaitė married Marius Kiltinavičius in June 2015 at the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in Kaunas. Marius is a basketball coach for the Lithuanian men's national team, a former coach of the Suduva-Mantinga team, and a former member of the boy band N.E.O. The couple became vegetarian in 2014 and shares an interest in Ayurveda and meditation. They have traveled to India multiple times as pilgrims. Eva is a devotee of the Hare Krishna Movement, making her the first Krishnaite to participate in Eurovision.

Eurovision Experience

In 2018, Lithuania made a significant effort to select its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Eva Zasimauskaitė participated in the Lithuanian national selection for the fifth time and finally succeeded. Despite initial jury rankings favoring Jurgis Brūzga, Eva managed to climb to the top through public voting, while Jurgis slipped to the fourth position.

In the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, Eva Zasimauskaitė competed in the grand final and received a total of 181 points (90 from the jury, 91 from the audience). She secured the 12th place out of 26 participants. The performance received mixed reviews, with some judges highlighting Eva's captivating voice and others expressing a desire for a more impactful performance. Nevertheless, Eva's timeless song, "When We're Old", left a lasting impression on Eurovision audiences.
