Igor Avichenko: A Multifaceted Russian Writer and Artist
Early Life and EducationIgor Avichenko was born in 1971 in Leningrad, Russia (now Saint Petersburg). He attended schools 269 and 221 in the Kirovsky district before pursuing higher education at the Institute of Cellulose and Paper Industry, which later became the University of Plant Polymers. He graduated with a degree in heat engineering.
Professional Career
After graduation, Avichenko worked as a heat engineer in the Kalininsky district. He served a year in the army before joining the Philip Morris cigarette factory in 1998. He worked there for 19 years until downsizing in 2017.
Literary Involvement
Avichenko became involved in the organization of "Interpresscon," an annual science fiction convention, in 2010. At the event, he met his future co-author, Yulia Zonis. He also served on the editorial board of "Fantastika i Detectivy" magazine from 2014 until its closure.
Artistic Contributions
Avichenko has played a significant role in organizing the Fantlab Awards, which recognize优秀 cover art and illustrations. His passion for art dates back to his childhood, influenced by his father. He also enjoys music ranging from neo-tango to power metal.
