Igor Golembiovsky, a renowned journalist, has made significant contributions to the media industry. Born on September 7, 1935, in Samtredia, Georgia, he graduated from Tbilisi State University with a degree in Philology.

Early Career (1958-1964)

Golembiovsky began his journalism career as a literary employee at the newspaper "Molodoy Stalinets" (1958-1961). He then became a department head and editor at the newspaper "Molodezh Gruzii" (1961-1964).

Izvestiya (1966-1991)

In 1966, Golembiovsky joined the prestigious newspaper "Izvestiya" in the letters department. He later served as a special correspondent in Mexico City (1981-1983), before becoming responsible secretary (1983) and first deputy chief editor (1986-1991).

Editor-in-Chief of Izvestiya (1991-1997)

In August 1991, Golembiovsky was appointed editor-in-chief of "Izvestiya." He also became president of the joint-stock company that managed the newspaper. In 1994, he was elected president of the Club of Chief Editors.

Novyye Izvestiya (1997-2003)

After leaving "Novyye Izvestiya," Golembiovsky intended to start a new newspaper. He was a member of the Human Rights Commission under President Yeltsin until 1996. Fluently proficient in Spanish, he has one son.
