Igor Zavadskiy: Renowned Ukrainian Accordionist

Igor Zavadskiy is a Ukrainian accordionist who has achieved remarkable success throughout his career. He holds the prestigious title of Merited Artist of Ukraine (2000) and has triumphed in numerous international competitions, including in France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain.

Early Life and Education

Igor Zavadskiy was born on January 20, 1966, in Inta, Russia. He began his musical journey at the age of 11 when he enrolled in a music school in Ekibastuz. In 1978, he moved to Zaporizhzhia with his family and completed his music and secondary education.

In 1982, Zavadskiy enrolled in the Zaporizhzhia State Music College, where he studied under Professor A. G. Petrychenko. He graduated with honors in 1986 and went on to pursue higher education at the Kyiv State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky (now the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky). There, he studied under Professor N. A. Davydov and received his diploma with distinction in 1991.

Concert Career

Igor Zavadskiy's concert career took off in 1993 when he acquired his first own concert instrument. From 1994 to 1995, he participated in international accordion competitions, where he won the Gold Medal in France and received the "Golden Lyre" award in Italy.

In 1996, Zavadskiy gave his first solo concert at the Slavutych Center for Arts in Kyiv. In 1998, he joined the faculty of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts as a lecturer.

Recognition and Honors

In 2000, Zavadskiy was bestowed the title of "Merited Artist of Ukraine" by the President of Ukraine in recognition of his outstanding achievements and dedication to his profession.

In 2005, Igor Zavadskiy played a pivotal role in setting a Guinness World Record for the largest accordion orchestra during a folk festival in Kimberly, Canada. As a soloist, he performed alongside 644 accordionists from five countries, creating a musical ensemble that played popular American and Canadian tunes for 30 minutes.

Professional Experience

Throughout his career, Igor Zavadskiy has held various teaching and performing positions. He served as a soloist-instrumentalist at the Poltava Regional State Philharmonic and the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Philharmonic. Additionally, he taught at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts for two years.
