Biography of Ilya Novak
Ilya Novak, a Ukrainian Russian-speaking writer, is known for his contributions to the popular series of books set in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe. Born on April 16, 1971, in Kiev, Novak developed a passion for writing at a young age. At the age of seven, he began his first novel inspired by the works of Mayne Reid, but it remained unfinished. At fifteen, he decided to pursue a career as a science fiction and fantasy writer and received a specialized education at the Philological Faculty of Kiev State University. Although Novak claims to have never worked in his field of study, he has explored various professions in his life.

Currently, Novak resides and works in the Ukrainian capital. He enjoys sailing on yachts and maintains a blog on "LiveJournal." His literary debut took place in 2002 when his trash story, "Almost Complete Darkness. The Shaman Has Arrived," was published in the "Porog" magazine. Since then, Novak has had around forty of his stories published in domestic magazines such as "Iskatel," "Chemistry and Life," "Reality of Science Fiction," and the collection "Fantasy-2006."
In 2004, Novak released his first work in the children's fantasy genre, "Kuxa and Solar Magic," under his real name. His talent as a writer was highly regarded by fans of humorous scientific fantasy for his wit and unexpected, sometimes surrealistic, plot twists. In 2005, Novak's work was recognized throughout Europe, as he won the "Best Debut" category at the "EuroCon 2005" convention. In 2006, he published the work "Demo Sphere," which became his first venture into the cyberpunk genre.
Novak is the creator of the "Patina - Magical Network" series, which includes the books "High Magic" and "Diamond Splash," as well as the "World Abductors" cycle, which he collaboratively worked on with colleague Lev Zhakov. A significant milestone in the writer's career was his involvement in the development of the script for the computer game "Aquador: Heroes of Destroyed Empires" and the series of books related to it, such as "Necromagic," "Battle of the Trees," and "Magic in the Blood." For the "Aquador" cycle, Novak received the "World of Science Fiction" award for "Best Novelization" in 2006.
Novak also participated in the script development for the game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." and authored two novels for the inter-author series. Currently, Novak is working on several science fiction works and space opera series. His works are published by Azbuka, AST, and Eksmo publishing houses.
