Biography of Ione Skye

Ione Skye Leitch, born on September 4, 1970, is an American actress of British descent. She is the daughter of famous 1960s folk singer Donovan, but was raised by her mother in California and Connecticut. Skye began her career as a child model and caught the attention of director Tim Hunter, who cast her as Clarissa in the 1986 film "River's Edge".

Early Acting Career

After her debut in "River's Edge", Skye went on to play the girlfriend of the main character, portrayed by River Phoenix, in the film "A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon". She then brilliantly portrayed the heartbreaker high school student, Diana Court, in Cameron Crowe's bittersweet love story "Say Anything". Skye also appeared in her brother Donovan Leitch's film "Gas Food Lodging", playing a moody older sister.

Transition to Television and Directing

Skye continued to showcase her talent, playing one of the witches in the segment "Strange Brew" of the film "Four Rooms". She then ventured into directing, collaborating with Andrew Durham and Sofia Coppola on the short film "Bed, Bath and Beyond". In 1996, Skye portrayed a promising actress in the romantic comedy "Dream for an Insomniac".

In 1992, Skye married musician and actor Adam Horovitz, the son of playwright and director Israel Horovitz. After her television ventures, Skye returned to the film industry.
