Biography of Irene Galitzine
Irene Galitzine, also known as Irina Borisovna Galitzine, was born on July 22, 1916, in Tiflis (now Tbilisi), Russia (now Georgia). She belonged to the Russian aristocratic Galitzine family. After the October Revolution, she emigrated to Constantinople and later settled in Rome with her mother.

Early Career
Irene started her career in the fashion world in 1945 as an assistant at the fashion house "Sorelle Fontana," which was led by the Fontana sisters. After three years of work, Galitzine decided to establish her own company. In 1949, Irene Galitzine's firm was created in Rome. However, it took ten years for her first collection to be launched. In the same year, she received the "Filene Award" for new talents in Boston. Three years later, Irene was named Designer of the Year in Italy.
Achievements
In 1965, Galitzine received the "Sunday Times International Fashion Award" and the "Isabella d'Este Award." In 1960, she organized a fashion show of her collection at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, where she presented a collection of silk trouser suits named "palazzo pajama." Irene Galitzine closed her fashion house in 1968 to focus on creating custom clothing designs for private clients. However, in 1970, she relaunched her brand under the name "Irene Galitzine." In 1996, a flagship boutique named "Irene Galitzine" was opened in Moscow.
Legacy
Irene Galitzine's talent drew the attention of numerous famous admirers, including Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, and many others. Irene Galitzine passed away on October 20, 2006, in Rome, Italy.
