Early Life and Introduction to Canoe Sprint

Isaquias Queiroz dos Santos, a renowned Brazilian canoe sprinter, was born on January 3, 1994, in Ubaitaba, Bahia, Brazil. Inspired by a youth paddling program in his hometown, he embraced canoeing at the tender age of 11.

International Debut and Rise to Prominence

Queiroz made his international debut in 2011 at the Canoe Sprint World Cup series. The same year, he participated in his first World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, where he displayed remarkable talent by reaching the final in the 5000-meter event and finishing sixth.

World Championships Glory

In 2013, Queiroz achieved historic success at the World Championships in Duisburg, Germany. He became the first Brazilian to win a medal at the event, capturing a bronze in the 1000-meter race. A day later, he made history once more by triumphing in the 500-meter event, becoming World Champion at the age of 19.

Continued Dominance and National Recognition

Queiroz defended his World Championship title in the 500-meter race at the 2014 Moscow Championships. Teaming up with Erlon Silva, he also claimed a bronze medal in the 200-meter doubles event. His impressive performances continued in 2015, as he won gold and bronze in Milan, this time in the 1000-meter doubles. As a testament to his exceptional year, Queiroz was crowned Brazil's Sportsman of the Year in 2015.
