Early Life and Education
Born on December 26, 1921, in the village of Rogovzov, Ukraine, the young lieutenant colonel grew up in a humble environment. He completed his education at School No. 8 in the town of Osipovichi in modern-day Belarus. Before joining the military, he worked as an accountant for the Boryspil office of "Zagotzerno."
Military Service and Heroism
Lieutenant Colonel enlisted in the Red Army in April 1941 and was thrust into the thick of action at the onset of World War II. During the fierce battles to force the Seim, Desna, and Dnieper rivers in September 1943, he displayed exceptional bravery. With his artillery fire, he destroyed 5 tanks, 6 machine guns, 8 bunkers, and countless enemy soldiers, earning him recognition and the prestigious title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The honor was bestowed upon him on October 16, 1943, along with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal.
Post-War Career and Recognition
In the years following the war, the lieutenant colonel dedicated himself to his military profession. He graduated from the Saratov Tank School in 1945 and later completed advanced officer training courses in 1953. After a distinguished career, he retired from active duty in 1969 and settled in Kiev, Ukraine.
Tragic End and Legacy
On June 16, 1975, tragedy struck when the lieutenant colonel lost his life under unfortunate circumstances in his hometown of Rogovzov. His memory lives on through the awards he earned and the impact he left on his comrades.
