Early Life and Education
Nikolai Vladimirovich Larin was born on July 10, 1918, in the village of Shashkovo, Ryazanskaya Oblast, into a peasant family. He completed seven years of education and worked at the Novokuznetsk Metallurgical Plant.
Military Service
Larin served in the Red Army from 1938 to 1939 and again from 1941. In 1941, he completed an accelerated course at the Novosibirsk Military Infantry School. In 1942, he attended the "Vystrel" Officer Training Courses.
World War II
Larin joined the active armed forces in February 1943. As a captain, he commanded the 524th Rifle Regiment's 112th Rifle Division in the 13th Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front.
On January 26, 1945, during the crossing of the Oder River near Dembsen, Poland, Larin's battalion played a crucial role. They were the first to cross the river, establishing a bridgehead that they defended until the arrival of the division's main forces.
Hero of the Soviet Union
For his exceptional bravery, Larin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on April 10, 1945. He received the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal.
Post-War Career
After the war, Larin retired in 1946. In 1957, he graduated from the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He worked in Novokuznetsk until 1962, when he retired to the city of Molodechno in Minsk Oblast.
Legacy
Nikolai Vladimirovich Larin passed away on November 12, 1982. He is remembered as a courageous and highly decorated war hero. In 1980, he was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Molodechno.
