Biography of Ivan Dorn

Ivan Alexandrovich Dorn, a well-known contemporary Ukrainian musician, DJ, and TV presenter, was born in 1988 in the city of Chelyabinsk. In 1990, Ivan moved with his parents to the Ukrainian city of Slavutych, where his father was sent to work. After his parents' divorce, Ivan changed his surname from "Eremin" to his mother's maiden name, "Dorn."
From a young age, Ivan showed a talent for music and singing. At the age of 6, he performed at the "Golden Autumn of Slavutych" festival. He was also active in sports and achieved several significant athletic titles, including a candidate for master of sports in ballroom dancing, a master of sports in sailing, a 3rd category in track and field athletics, and a 2nd category in swimming. In addition to these activities, Dorn played football, chess, and professionally played tennis.
In 2006, Dorn became a student at the Faculty of Cinematography at the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema, and Television named after I. K. Karpenko-Karyi. Soon after, he became a presenter on the Ukrainian TV channel M1.
In 2007, Ivan met Ane Dobrydniova, with whom he formed the duo "Pare Normalnykh" ("Pair of Normal Ones"). In October 2008, their debut album titled "Ya prydumayu happy end" ("I'll Invent a Happy End") was released. The group's song became a hit on the radio, making it to the list of the most popular compositions on Love Radio and Russian Radio. Their second album, "Skandal vo vremya reklamy" ("Scandal during the Advertisement"), was released in 2010. That same year, Dorn left "Pare Normalnykh," and Artem Mekh took his place, while Ivan decided to pursue his solo career.
His fans soon heard his songs such as "Stycamen" ("Bold"), "Bigudi" ("Hair Rollers"), "Severnoye siyanie" ("Northern Lights"), "Tem bolee" ("Even More"), and "Sinimi, zheltyimi, krasnymi" ("Blue, Yellow, Red"). Dorn also released music videos for many of his compositions. In May 2012, his official debut album titled "Co'N'Dorn" was released. The album received numerous nominations for awards such as the MuzTV-2012. "Billboard Russia" featured Dorn on the cover, and his album topped the magazine's chart. Notably, both audiences and critics responded to the Ukrainian musician with great favor. His concerts always attract full houses, and various critics refer to Ivan as the "new star of Russian pop music" and "one of the most highly professional musicians" who creates something more than traditional "three chords." His songs represent an interesting mix of funk, neo-disco, and house.
In 2012, Dorn won the RU.TV Award in the category of "Best Debut." "I like how I make music. And what I do should please you," Ivan said in one of his interviews. By the way, it is said that Ivan Dorn and his band never perform to a backing track.
