Early Life and Education
Born in 1922 in the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate, he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1941.
Military Service
Enlisting in the Red Army in 1941, he served as the Komsomol organizer of the 312th Rifle Division during the Great Patriotic War. From 1946, he worked in the Political Directorate of the Soviet Military Administration in Germany. Subsequently, he held various positions in the Red Banner Baltic Military District from 1951 onwards.
Political Career
In 1971, he was appointed member of the Military Council and Chief of the Political Directorate of the Red Banner Baltic Military District. He was elected as a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the Latvian SSR (9th and 10th convocations) and served on its Mandate Commission. He was also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Latvia.
Awards and Honors
He was awarded the rank of Colonel General in 1978.Personal Life
He married Galina Khlopotova and had two children, Tatyana and Viktor.
Death
He passed away in Riga in 1982, leaving behind a legacy of military and political service to the Soviet Union.
