Belarusian Political Figure and Economist
Boris Ivanovich Berezovsky is a prominent Belarusian political figure and economist. With a Doctorate in Economics and a professorship, he has made significant contributions to Belarusian and international politics.
Early Life and Education
Berezovsky was born in Belarus and studied at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, graduating in 1975. He later attended the Higher Party School, graduating in 1986.
Career in Agriculture and Politics
Berezovsky began his career as a chief agronomist and deputy chairman of a collective farm in his hometown. In 1980, he entered the political arena. From 1986 to 1990, he served as First Secretary of the Vileika City Party Committee.
Contribution to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Berezovsky played a pivotal role in establishing the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Appointed as Coordinator of the Working Group of the CIS Council of Heads of State and Council of Heads of Government, he dedicated himself to creating the structures and working organs of this newly independent political organization. From 1993 to 1998, he served as Executive Secretary of the CIS, cementing his legacy as a key figure in post-Soviet geopolitics.
Return to Belarus and Academic Pursuits
Berezovsky returned to Belarus in 1998, where he served as First Deputy Executive Secretary of the CIS until 1999. He also held positions in the Belarusian parliament and National Assembly from 1995 to 1996 and 1996 to 2000, respectively.
Later Life
Since 2000, Berezovsky has shifted to academia, focusing on his field of expertise in economics. He is an esteemed lecturer and researcher, sharing his knowledge and experience with future generations of scholars.
