Ivan Krasouski: The Belarusian Paraplaner Who Survived an Impaling

H2: The Crash

On June 2, 2018, Belarusian paraplaner Ivan Krasouski experienced a harrowing crash near the village of Loshany, Minsk. While flying with a modified paraplaner, he collided with a pine tree, impaling his shoulder. Despite the severe injury, Krasouski remained conscious and even managed to take a selfie with the log protruding from his body.

H2: Rescue and Treatment

Emergency services arrived at the scene and discovered Krasouski with the log penetrating his shoulder. Using specialized tools, they partially removed the sizable log. Krasouski's remarkable strength of will allowed him to walk with the log in his shoulder to the waiting ambulance.

At the hospital, Krasouski underwent a three-hour surgery to safely remove the pine tree. Miraculously, the tree had not damaged any vital organs or major blood vessels.

H2: A Man of Character

According to his friend Kiryl Shpakovsky, Krasouski is a devoted family man who enjoys taking his children to the ropes course and horseback riding. Shpakovsky also emphasizes that Krasouski is not a reckless daredevil but a cool-headed professional with extensive experience in performing complex stunts.

H2: The Paratrake

Krasouski was flying a paratrake, a motorized three-wheeled vehicle that combines elements of parachuting and paragliding. This modified aircraft has the capability of reaching altitudes of up to 5 km.

H2: Aftermath

Doctors noted that if certain blood vessels had been affected, Krasouski could have lost the use of his arm or even necessitated amputation. Fortunately, he is currently in stable condition.
