Early Life and Education
Born into a peasant family, he initially attended the Polotsk Forestry College from 1928 to 1931. He went on to pursue a degree in Forestry Engineering at the Leningrad Forestry Academy, graduating in 1938.
Early Career
From 1931 to 1933, he served as a teacher and later the Director of a forestry school in Vasil'eviči, Belarus. After graduating from the Leningrad Forestry Academy, he took on the role of Head of the Production and Technical Department of the Russian SFSR's Ministry of Forest Industry from 1938 to 1940.
World War II and Post-War Service
During World War II, he served in the Red Army from 1940 to 1946. After the war, he held various positions in the Ministry of Forest Industry of the USSR, including Deputy Head of the Scientific and Production Department for Logging (1946-1947) and Head of the Technical Department for Logging (1947-1948).
Ministry of Paper and Wood Processing Industry
In 1951, he was appointed Minister of Paper and Wood Processing Industry of the USSR, a position he held until 1953. He subsequently served as First Deputy Minister and Deputy Minister of Forest and Paper Industry of the USSR (1953-1954) and Deputy Minister of Forest Industry of the USSR (1954-1957).
Chairman of Arkhangelsk Sovnarkhoz
From 1957 to 1961, he was the Chairman of the Arkhangelsk Sovnarkhoz, the economic council of the Arkhangelsk region. He then returned to Moscow as Deputy Chairman of the Russian SFSR's Sovnarkhoz from 1961 to 1962.
Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR
In 1962, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Russian SFSR, a position he held until 1965. During this period, he was responsible for overseeing the economic development of the Russian republic.
Minister of Forestry of the RSFSR
From 1965 to 1968, he served as Minister of Forestry of the Russian SFSR, where he was responsible for managing the republic's forests, timber industry, and wildlife conservation.
Later Career
In 1968, he rejoined the Ministry of Forest and Wood Processing Industry of the USSR, where he remained for the rest of his career.
Political Affiliations and Recognition
He joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1938. He was elected as a Deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the Russian SFSR during the 5th to 7th convocations.
He received numerous awards for his contributions, including the Order of Lenin, Orders of the Patriotic War 1st and 2nd Class, Order of the Red Star, and the Order of the Badge of Honor.
