Biography of Izhar Cohen

Izhar Cohen is an Israeli pop singer and actor who was born in a family of Yemeni descent. He rose to fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978 with the song "A-Ba-Ni-Bi," performed together with the group "Alphabeta."
Upon his arrival in Tel Aviv, he was greeted as a national hero. The English version of the song reached the fourth position in the Swiss charts and the ninth position in the Swedish charts.
In 1985, Izhar Cohen represented Israel once again at the Eurovision Song Contest, achieving fifth place with the song "Ole ole." He also participated in the national selection rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982 and 1996.
Apart from his singing career, Izhar Cohen also worked as an actor in the Haifa theater.
