Early Life and EducationJacqueline Yvonne Harry was born on August 14, 1956, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After her father passed away when she was three, her family moved to Harlem, New York, where she was raised by her mother alongside her four siblings. Jackie's childhood passion for the arts blossomed early; she spent countless hours watching television and absorbing the performances she saw.
At the age of 14, Harry landed her first major role in a school production of "The King and I." She later attended the New York High School of Music & Art and Long Island University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in education. Marriage and Divorce

Her second was a whirlwind romance with a rock band bassist that ended abruptly the day after the wedding. On December 1, 1996, she married hair stylist Elgin Charles Williams in a lavish ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel; they divorced in 2003.
