Biography of Jackie Bibby
Jackie Bibby, also known as "The Texas Snake Man," is an American snake handler famous for his heart-stopping tricks with venomous snakes. He holds at least five world records, including holding 13 venomous snakes in his mouth and spending 45 minutes in a bathtub with 195 rattlesnakes. Since 1999, Bibby has been featured nine times in the Guinness World Records book.
Passion for Snakes
Jackie Bibby, a Texan native, has dedicated over 40 years of his life to working with snakes. Snakes are not only his hobby but also his main profession. He regularly performs within the state of Texas and tours other locations almost every year, including Europe. Starting in the late 1960s, Bibby has been attacked by snakes numerous times, with some bites being quite dangerous. However, this did not deter him from his passion. He claims to have developed a symbiotic relationship with his snakes and sometimes even feels like he is one of them.
Tragic Accident and Resilience
During one incident, a venomous snake bit Bibby's leg so severely that doctors had to amputate it below the knee. However, Bibby refused to believe that he could have died from the bite. Despite the loss of his leg, he continues to perform with the use of a prosthetic limb. Many people ask him if he fears that one day he will die from another snake bite, to which Bibby simply laughs and says, "See? I'm still alive!"
Daring Feats and Records
Jackie Bibby's most outstanding records include sitting in a bathtub with 195 rattlesnakes and carrying 109 snakes in a sleeping bag. He once even held 13 venomous and hissing snakes in his mouth. The sight of these performances is simply unbearable, and all videos posted online of Bibby working with snakes come with a disclaimer: "This is done by a professional, please do not attempt this yourself."
Local Legend
Bibby's shows as "The Texas Snake Man" always attract a large audience in his home state, and he is considered a local legend. Unfortunately, his shows were temporarily interrupted after his leg amputation, leading many to believe that "The Texas Snake Man" would retire from his dangerous activities. However, Bibby never entertained the idea of quitting; he was simply frustrated by the temporary setback. As of today, Jackie Bibby holds nine world records and continues to come up with new tricks involving his dangerous pets.
