Jackie Jackson, born on May 4, 1951 in the United States, is an American musician and singer. He is best known for being a member of the group "The Jackson 5" and is the older brother of Michael Jackson. His real name is Sigmund Esco Jackson, but he is commonly known as Jackie.
Early Life and Music Career
In school, Jackie had dreams of becoming a professional baseball player and dedicated himself to sports in preparation for a professional sports career. However, in 1966, Jackie's four younger brothers decided to form their own musical group. Unable to resist the opportunity, Jackie joined the family band and took on the role of vocalist. He also played the trombone. The group predominantly performed soul music, but later incorporated elements of funk and other similar genres.
In 1969, "The Jackson 5" signed a promising contract with the record label "Motown Records" and initially served as the opening act for Diana Ross. Their first hit song was "I Want You Back". The group went on to release numerous albums, including "Third Album", "The Jackson 5 Christmas Album", "Maybe Tomorrow", "Goin' Back to Indiana", "Lookin' Through the Windows", and "Skywriter". However, as Michael Jackson embarked on a successful solo career, the group gradually disbanded and Jackie began focusing on his own solo endeavors.
Solo Career and Later Life
In 1973, Jackie released his debut solo album titled "Jackie Jackson". He followed this up with his second album, "Be the One", in 1989. Currently, Jackie Jackson is not actively performing on stage. He holds the position of CEO at the recording company "Jesco" in California.
Jackie was previously married, but the marriage ended due to his infidelity. He has a daughter named Brandi and a son named Sigmund from his first marriage.
