Biography of Jackson Gordon

Jackson Gordon, a 21-year-old American student, is a student at Philadelphia University studying industrial design. However, he has another, darker and more mysterious side. His alter ego is the Dark Knight himself, Batman. Spending a lot of time in his workshop, Jackson has created a fully functional Batman suit, complete with armor, cape, and matte black hood that can withstand knife attacks.

Discovering his Calling

Gordon discovered his passion for creating superhero costumes five years ago when he started experimenting with cosplay. He even made one of the Batman suits for Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. While he admired the design of the costume, he found it lacked functionality and authenticity. Determined to create a real Batman costume that was both protective and agile, Gordon embarked on a mission to develop a suit that could withstand knife attacks and absorb powerful blows.

Achieving His Goal

To achieve his goal, Gordon needed expensive materials, so he turned to the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. To his surprise, he managed to raise $1255 in just six days. He used Kevlar, a synthetic fiber known for its resistance to stabbing and cutting attacks, as the main material for the suit. Additionally, he incorporated memory foam, originally developed for astronauts, to absorb the impact of blows. After numerous experiments with polycarbonates and extruded PVC profiles, Gordon created rigid armor plates to protect his torso, forearms, and shins.

The Mask Challenge

The most challenging part of the project was creating the mask. Gordon found it nearly impossible to make it out of the same materials as the rest of the suit. Instead, he used Sintra plastic to create a mold of his head shape and then covered it with layers of sculpting clay and soft plastics to achieve the recognizable Batman mask. Finally, he poured liquid polyurethane into the mold to create a sturdy and functional mask-hood.

From Student to Entrepreneur

Gordon, who is also an expert in Shaolin Kung Fu, showcased his Batman costume at superhero conventions and received positive feedback from his peers and lecturers. Encouraged by the attention and media coverage, he decided to launch his own website called "Armatus Design." Today, customers can purchase his Batman mask for $275. Gordon plans to expand his product line by introducing a "Combat Jacket" that has already generated significant interest from cosplay enthusiasts, martial artists, motorcyclists, and ATV riders.

A Limitation and Future Plans

Due to copyright issues and the versatility of his designs, Gordon acknowledges that the iconic Batman symbol may never be part of his offerings. He is committed to focusing on his studies and will not expand his business until he completes his university education. Additionally, he does not plan to use his Batman costume as a project for his diploma. Nevertheless, Jackson Gordon continues to inspire with his innovation and dedication to creating functional and authentic superhero gear.
