In a remarkable act of sibling love, 10-month-old Jacob Davis became the youngest bone marrow donor in the UK, saving the life of his newborn sister, Seren-Rose.
A Grave Diagnosis
Shortly after Seren-Rose's birth in 2013, she was diagnosed with mucopolysaccharidosis, a rare genetic disorder that prevents the body from producing a vital protein. Without treatment, the condition can lead to severe physical and cognitive impairments.
Searching for a Savior
Desperate to save their daughter, Seren-Rose's parents tested their own bone marrow but were not suitable donors. Their hopes rested on their infant son, Jacob.

Incredibly, Jacob's bone marrow proved to be a perfect match. Despite the risks associated with bone marrow transplantation, especially in such a young child, the decision was made to proceed with the surgery.

On January 24, 2014, Jacob underwent the transplant. The surgery involved removing healthy bone marrow from Jacob and infusing it into Seren-Rose. Despite the risks, the procedure went smoothly.
