Early Career

In 1986, Lockhart's team nearly won the World Championships. Lockhart continued to compete in curling and gradually worked towards qualifying for the Olympics. In 1992, she skipped the British team in the Olympic demonstration event in Albertville. However, the team finished in sixth place after losing their final game to the Swedish team led by skip Annette Norberg. Lockhart and her team represented Scotland in the same season's World Championships, but they finished in fifth place.

Olympic Journey

In her quest to qualify for the first official Olympic curling competition, Lockhart joined Kirsty Hay's team. The team was already considered the best in Scotland and Britain at the time. At the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Lockhart, along with Hay, Edith Loudon, Katie Loudon, and Fiona Bain, performed well, almost defeating the Canadian team led by skip Sandra Schmirler in the semifinals. However, they lost the chance to win gold and suffered a crushing defeat to the Swedish team led by skip Elisabet Gustafson in the bronze medal match. In the same season's World Championships, Lockhart's team finished in seventh place.

Continued Success and Controversy

Lockhart missed the qualifying games for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City but was inspired by the British team's gold medal victory under skip Rhona Martin. She then had a remarkable performance at the Scottish Championships, defeating Martin and earning the right to represent Scotland at the World Championships in North Dakota. During the competition, Lockhart and her team danced to pop melodies between ends, despite the high stakes. Nevertheless, they won Scotland's first women's curling championship title in a few weeks.

Later Career

After her success, Lockhart attracted attention in the media for allegedly using the same stone that Martin had used to win in Salt Lake City in the final match against Sweden. The media drew comparisons to the Scottish legend of the Stone of Destiny, a rock used for the coronation of Scottish monarchs in the Middle Ages. Lockhart continued her curling career and represented Scotland until the 2006 Winter Olympics, where she was replaced by Debbie Knox after a subpar performance against Norway.

Later Life

In 2007, Lockhart posed naked for the 'Fire on Ice' calendar, which aimed to promote women's curling. Later that year, as the third player on Kelly Wood's team, Lockhart won bronze at the Women's World Curling Championships.
