Jaime Penedo
Jaime Penedo is a Panamanian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Romanian club Dinamo București and the Panama national team.
Career
Early CareerBorn and raised in Panama, Penedo began his career with hometown club Estudiantes de Panamá in 2000. He later joined Plaza Amador in 2002 and Árabe Unido in 2004, where he won the Apertura and Clausura titles in the same year.
Europe and Central America
Penedo's performances in Panama caught the attention of Italian club Cagliari, who signed him in 2004. However, he failed to make an appearance for the Italian side and subsequently moved to Spanish team Osasuna B in 2006. After spending a season in Spain, he returned to Central America in 2007, signing with Guatemalan club Municipal. With Municipal, Penedo won four Guatemalan league titles and participated in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Los Angeles Galaxy
In 2013, Penedo joined MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy. He made his debut for the American club against Real Salt Lake and was instrumental in their 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps the following match. Penedo appeared in 9 regular season games, conceding 7 goals while keeping 4 clean sheets. He also played in both playoff matches against Real Salt Lake.
Deportivo Saprissa
After his contract with the Galaxy was terminated in 2015, Penedo joined Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa, where he played for two seasons.
International Career
Penedo made his debut for the Panama national team in 2003 and has since earned over 110 caps.
Notable Tournaments
He has represented Panama in several major tournaments, including the CONCACAF Gold Cup (2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013), where he was named Best Goalkeeper and included in the Best XI in 2005 and 2013. He was also part of the Panama team that won the UNCAF Nations Cup in 2009.
