Early Career at Fluminense

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Jair Marinho began his professional career with Fluminense in 1956. Over the course of seven years at the club, he made 258 appearances and scored one goal. During his time at Fluminense, he won one Campeonato Carioca (Rio de Janeiro State Championship) and two Torneio Rio-São Paulo (Rio-São Paulo Tournaments).

Club Career

After leaving Fluminense, Marinho played for various clubs in Brazil, including Portuguesa Desportos, Corinthians, Vasco da Gama, and Campo Grande.

International Career

Marinho made his debut for the Brazilian national team in 1961 and represented his country until 1962. He helped Brazil win the Copa O'Higgins and Copa Oswaldo Cruz in 1961. In 1962, he was part of the World Cup-winning squad, although he did not play in any matches during the tournament.

Post-Playing Career

Following his retirement from playing, Marinho worked as a coach at a football school in Rio Grande.

Personal Life

Marinho was married and had four children and three grandchildren.
