Rise to Fame

It was not until August 2009 that 'The xx' released their debut studio album, 'xx', which quickly propelled the previously unknown English band to global stardom. Prior to the album's release, one of the band's songs was featured on the official music compilation by 'FACT Magazine'. 'xx' went on to achieve platinum status in the United Kingdom and the band was honored with the prestigious 'Mercury Music Prize'.

Solo Career and Continued Success

With the band's popularity soaring, Jamie began his solo career under the pseudonym Jamie xx. However, he made it clear in interviews that he had no intention of leaving the band, as he found great pleasure and support working with his close friends and valued their collaboration for his solo projects.

In late 2010, Jamie's remix of Gilbert Scott-Heron's song 'NY Is Killing Me' gained significant airplay on British and European radio stations. Shortly after, another remix, 'I'll Take Care Of U', also received widespread attention. In February 2011, Jamie released his full-length remix album titled 'We're New Here', which debuted at number 33 on the UK Albums Chart and reached the fourth position on the UK Indie Chart. The album was highly acclaimed by critics, with a Metacritic user rating of 83 out of 100 and BBC journalists referring to it as a "sort of masterpiece".

In June 2011, Jamie released the mini-album 'Far Nearer/Beat For', with the single 'Far Nearer' being named the Best New Track by 'Pitchfork Media'. The album reached the 13th position on the British indie rock chart.

Current Work

Today, Jamie continues to work with 'The xx' and pursue his solo endeavors. Each project he takes on surprises his fans with its unique style and innovation.
