Jan de Boer, a renowned Dutch footballer, embarked on his remarkable career at the age of 13 when he joined Amsterdam's illustrious football club, Ajax, in 1911. After honing his skills for nine years, de Boer made his debut in the first team in 1920, eventually becoming the team's starting goalkeeper and displacing Jan Smit from the starting lineup.

Debut and Career at Ajax

de Boer's debut came on September 19, 1920, in an away match against De Spartan. Ajax emerged victorious with a convincing 4-1 win. Throughout his 13-year tenure at the club until 1933, he amassed an impressive 195 appearances, making him a member of Ajax's exclusive club of players with the most matches played.

de Boer's final match for Ajax occurred on March 16, 1933, in a hard-fought match against Sparta Rotterdam, which Ajax narrowly won 4-3. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was bestowed with honorary membership in 1942 and served on the club's board from 1963 to 1973.
